The "At Home in Brantford" Main Page

December 16, 2005

This is the first time we go out in winter to "picture" home.
It is still quite colourful only that we add this big layer of white. The greens and browns and reds are still so much of the picture.

It's almost amusing to see the apple tree leaves hangin on, desperately, to their tree.

Last year, only a few leaves from the granny smith portion of the tree lasted the winter falling, only, in spring as new buds pushed them from their spot.

This is, in fact, the first time since we've been in Brantford that we have seen so much snow, here, this early in December.

Progress (slow though it is) is being made. We just replace the boiler and added radiators to the basement (which remains, for now, unfinished). The exterior of the house is not, entirely, painted yet. The painter is to return in spring to finish the eaves and wood trim on the south and east sides. Naturally, we didn't complete all our planting objectives so spring should be "interesting". We trimmed the parsley and oregano back early enough so they may make a return appearance in spring. We're betting we're getting more than just nine peaches next year ... and we're confident of seeing apple blossoms contributing to the mix on our front lawn next spring (and to our fruit basket, of course).

It continues to be exciting!
